DOLLY PARTON SAVED MY LIFE
A new play by Taylor Dyson
Dolly Parton Saved My Life is a new project from Elfie Picket Theatre. A story about grief, family, women and complex relationships. Inspired by the music of Dolly Parton and the relationship working class women of Scotland have with American Country & Western Music. Live music and spoken word poetry help to tell this multi-timeline tale of family and finding yourself. We recieved Creative Scotland Open Funding for 2 weeks of Research and Development in Dundee.
We were then funded by Hilltown Community Centre to perform a staged reading of the play to coincide with Dundee Women's Festival.
We recieved Creative Scotland Open Funding in 2022 and produced a free community tour of the show with a post-show event including live, local musicians, a quiz and social event that aimed to regenerate communities after the pandemic and have free events for people to enjoy theatre during the cost of living crisis.
